(Jersey City, November 14, 2013) Louis Raimondo born in Italy on February 26, 1921 and moved to Jersey City with his 2 sisters, brother and parents when he was six years old. At 21, years old, Louis enlisted in the Third Army, in the 65th Infantry as a Private First Class under General Patton. He first stationed in Mississippi, and then he sent overseas, to fight on the front line. He spent roughly 4 years in the army and fought in countries such as France, Germany and Austria. It was in Rhineland, Germany that Louis survived his Lieutenant and fellow soldiers after wounded by shrapnel shells from army tanks.
Louis a very proud veteran, who resides at Alaris Health at the Atrium, shared his war story with 10 other fellow veterans at a Veteran’s Day Coffee Social held on November 11, 2013 at the Atrium in Jersey City. All the veterans honored with ribbons which they wore proudly over their hearts. There was not a silent moment at the event as the veterans competed with each other, to share the details of their experiences. The veterans gave an informed glimpse into their life in war and their passion to share it, and Louis’ story is just one of many.
