Jersey City, NJ, February 18, 2016 – The treacherous conditions of Winter Storm Jonas proved to be a true testament to the continuous devotion of the staff at each Alaris Member Health Center. Hundreds of staff members braved the elements to arrive at their Center during this record-breaking storm between January 22 and 24.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Jonas was the fourth most powerful snowstorm to hit the Northeast in 66 years. The blizzard’s dangerous conditions affected more than 102 million people in 26 states. Nearly 30 million people saw 20 to 30 inches of snow and at least 50 people died as a result of the storm, which also caused widespread power outages, shut down major highways across the Northeast and led to coastal flooding that has inundated coastal communities.
At ground level, weather conditions were beyond dangerous, especially for those who were commuting on the roads. Some areas of New Jersey were hit with nearly three feet of snow but many Alaris Health staff members arrived or stayed overnight despite the difficult conditions. Those staff members were appreciated with an Alaris Health t-shirt as a commitment to recognizing excellence and rewarding employees who go above and beyond their calls of duty.
Excellent patient care would not be possible without staff members who put their patients’ needs above their own and Alaris Health commends and is grateful for their dedication and weathering Winter Storm Jonas 2016.
