Jersey City, NJ, October 24, 2017 – Member Centers of Alaris Health participated in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk this past Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Newport Plaza in Jersey City.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events celebrate survivors and raise awareness and money to help the American Cancer Society save lives. The money is used to fund innovative research, provide free information and support programs to patients and caregivers, and to help reduce breast cancer risks or find it early when it’s most treatable.
Breast cancer is a cause that is personal to so many people at Alaris Health. That’s why we’re joining the nation’s largest network of breast cancer events – the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. We’ll raise money and awareness and together we can continue to save lives.
The American Cancer Society is an important resource for women who are newly diagnosed with breast cancer. We owe it to those women to support the organization that does more than any other for them by funding innovative research and providing free information and services.
Lisa Marie Rosado, Recreation Director at Alaris Health at Castle Hill and the Alaris Health Team Captain for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk says “My decision to participate in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk was deeply inspired by a personal family struggle with breast cancer. My sister in law who was diagnosed with breast cancer, also faced a significant language barrier as English is not her first language. Therefore, I assumed the role of both her interpreter/translator and support system through this difficult time from the very beginning. During this challenging time, I witnessed first-hand the devastating and life altering effects of living with breast cancer.”
She continued “I was deeply impacted when I learned that there were others, even fellow staff members at Alaris Health, who survived breast cancer. Hearing their stories instilled hope and inspiration for my sister in law to keep fighting. This is precisely the reason why I made the decision to advance my professional and personal growth by becoming Team Captain for Alaris Health at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk”.
Member Centers of Alaris Health are proud to have participated in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and is thrilled about the difference that our associates and their families are making to save lives from breast cancer. Our team totaled approximately 50 members.
Joseph Filipak, Regional Director of Case Management at Alaris Health added “We couldn’t be more proud of our team! We have so many employees and loved ones with survivor stories, it was important for us to show our support in numbers. Our teams participation has grown each year, we can’t wait to show our support again in 2018”.
