Kearny, NJ, March 21, 2016 – The Kearny High School girls basketball teams certainly know how to bring excitement on the court. On the evening of January 13th though, they carried excitement off the court to Alaris Health at Kearny, where the athletes enjoyed a night of bingo, crafts and eating ice cream with about a dozen of the Center’s senior residents.
The entire varsity and JV girls basketball teams shared their evening socializing and making new friends with the residents. The athletes shared stories about work, school and basketball and listened to the residents recount stories about when they were the girls’ age. The residents could not have been more delighted with the time spent and truly enjoyed each other’s company. Emilee Marshall, who plays forward on both the JV and varsity teams, said, “We enjoy giving back to the community and this was such a fun experience for everyone involved.
Though the basketball season is now over, Coach Jody Hill plans to bring the basketball teams back each season to spend time with Alaris Health at Kearny residents.
