In the course of her career, Yvonne Mitchell, a registered nurse, has worked her way from a role in the Housekeeping department at Alaris Health at Rochelle Park to the position of Assistant Director of Nursing. In her early years at the facility, Ms. Mitchell watched the other nurses at the facility with interest, and she learned as much as she could from them. Seeing the positive impact they were having on people’s lives, Yvonne returned to school to complete her education. Now she is in a position to be a mentor to young nurses.
“I realized that this was what I wanted to do. It motivated me to work hard and achieve my dream. I like people and I enjoy making a difference in their lives. It has also given me the opportunity to build a team that can do great things together,” says Ms. Mitchell.
“Yvonne is a dedicated nurse who cares for our patients as she would her own family, with expert medial care and compassion. She works with the rest of the team to make everyone’s stay a positive experience,” says Kristine Giles, LNHA, Administrator for Alaris Health at Rochelle Park.
This dedication has made Ms. Mitchell well regarded by the staff. In honor of National Nursing Home Week, May 12-16, Alaris Health at Rochelle Park has chosen to highlight Ms. Mitchell as an exemplary employee. The American Health Care Association established National Nursing Home Week in 1967 as a week-long observance celebrating the positive impact nursing homes can have on the lives of people. Each Alaris Member Health Center is participating in this celebration and has chosen an employee to highlight.
“I love the feeling of accomplishment I get every single day from being an advocate for our patients and taking care of them,” says Ms. Mitchell.
The theme of this year’s National Nursing Home Week is “Team Care: Everyone Pitches in.” The theme recognizes residents and patients in long term and post-acute care settings, the dedicated staff who care for them, and the value of care planning where everyone “pitches in” for optimal outcomes.
“Alaris Health celebrates our employees for improving and enhancing the lives of our patients,” says Avery Eisenreich, President of Alaris Health.
