Rochelle Park, NJ, August 1, 2016 – Alaris Health at Rochelle Park understands that physical health is just as important as mental health for maintaining and boosting residents’ overall well-being. As part of its ongoing health and wellness initiatives, the Center hosted a special CrossFit activity last month for both residents and employees.
Certified CrossFit coaches Jess Murden and Bill Shockley from CrossFit A.C.T. in Lodi, New Jersey brought their knowledge and enthusiasm to the Center. They guided employees through a 30-minute workout followed by a nutrition discussion for employees and residents.
Instructors Jess and Bill explained the fundamentals of CrossFit and modified movements according to the group’s varying fitness levels, providing one-on-one assessment and instruction. The session was a huge hit, with 70 residents in attendance. Employee Josephine B., who said, “Our sweat was worth it! We also learned a lot about fitness.” Fellow employee Brigida added, “We were inspired to stay active and maintain a healthy diet.”
The introduction to CrossFit was an excellent way for residents and employees to get their heartrates up and expand their fitness and nutrition knowledge. The Center plans on doing the program again in the fall, plus having Zumba and Dance Kinect classes in August.

CrossFit has quickly become an overwhelmingly popular group fitness movement that incorporates gymnastics, weight lifting and powerlifting to improve overall strength, endurance and agility.
