Alaris Health at Passaic County Pairs Up with Eva’s Village for Day of Volunteering
Paterson, June 2014, Alaris Health at Passaic County volunteered in May 2014 at Eva’s Village in Paterson, New Jersey, as part of its “Bond, Boost and Build” program. Eva’s Village’s mission is to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, treat the addicted and provide free medical and dental care to the poor, and aims to be a model social service organization that is dedicated to preserving and enhancing the dignity of each individual.
Two teams from the center pitched in. One conducted a mock job fair for Eva’s Village clients and provided interview experience and feedback. The second team served lunch to the more than 350 homeless and poor residents who visit the kitchen each day for a hearty meal.
“Volunteering and serving the hungry was a great experience and an eye opener,” said Ailyne Geneta, director of admissions for the center and one of the day’s volunteers. “We all take things for granted, and you never realize what you have until you see people who are without.”
Eva’s Village works to end hunger, homelessness, addiction and despair one person and family at a time. The organization helps its clients achieve good health, stability and employment, build a bank account and afford decent housing. In accomplishing this, Eva’s Village heals families, helps establish safe and stable homes for children and creates better communities in the state of New Jersey.
