Jersey City, NJ, February 29, 2016 – February can be a particularly frigid month in New Jersey, but for a group of Alaris Health of HarborView residents, February 8th was an especially warm and fuzzy day. Children from Happy Face Day Care Center in Jersey City paid a special visit to residents at Alaris Health at HarborView for an afternoon filled with fun, laughter, singing and dancing.
The children gave each of the 30 residents “kind cushions”, pillows that they had sewn, stuffed and decorated themselves by hand. After the kind cushions had been handed out, one little girl was overheard asking the residents, “Did every grandma and grandpa receive a kind cushion?” which got a good laugh.
Along with the kind cushions, the group of enthusiastic children gave lots of hugs and even sang and danced with the residents. The Center continued to buzz with energy and chatter well after the students left, as residents exchanged stories and reflected upon the visit and good company.
Children from Happy Face Day Care Center visit residents at Alaris Health at HarborView twice a year, typically once in the winter and once in the summer. The residents are looking forward to the daycare’s next visit this summer, when they will be doing an arts and crafts project.
