For Beatrice Andrews, Quality Assurance (QA) Staffing Coordinator at Alaris Health at Essex, caring for older people began with taking care of a grandmother who she loved. Now, Ms. Andrews cares for patients each day, treating them as if they were her own family member and making sure their every need is met. From making sure the patients’ medical supplies are in order, helping to properly staff the building, and implementing quality systems to make improvements throughout the facility, Beatrice is always trying to enhance the quality of lives of her patients.
“I love working here. I enjoy every aspect of it, from taking care of patients and meeting their needs to assisting the team to do the best job possible each day. And for the past 20 years it has been a pleasure to interact with the patients and help them with their needs,” says Ms. Andrews.
This dedication to patients has made Ms. Andrews well regarded by the staff. In honor of National Nursing Home Week, May 12-16, Alaris Health at Essex has chosen to highlight Ms. Andrews as an exemplary employee. The American Health Care Association established National Nursing Home Week in 1967 as a week-long observance celebrating the positive impact nursing homes can have on the lives of people. Each Alaris Member Health Center is participating in this celebration and has chosen an employee to highlight.
“Beatrice is a long time team member. She is the type of employee who never says no to any task. She is always willing to help and truly takes pride in her work. Beatrice is consistently the first one here and the last to leave. She shops for residents on her own time and sometimes with her own money. Beatrice will go the extra mile to satisfy and make a resident happy. She is a true meaning of an exemplary employee,” says Maurice Duran, Administrator for Alaris Health at Essex.
The theme of this year’s National Nursing Home Week is “Team Care: Everyone Pitches in.” The theme recognizes residents and patients in long term and post-acute care settings, the dedicated staff who care for them, and the value of care planning where everyone “pitches in” for optimal outcomes.
“Alaris Health celebrates our employees for improving and enhancing the lives of our patients,” says Avery Eisenreich, President of Alaris Health.
