When the word multi-tasking comes to mind, residents and employees at Alaris Health at Belgrove think of Belleville resident Lisa Papp, who has a dual job overseeing both Dietary and Housekeeping at the facility. As Director of Hospitality, Ms. Papp is always looking for new recipes to incorporate into her menus to please the residents, and is ever present to greet them and address any needs.  She will even drive to the grocery store to fulfill a special request.

“If someone wants olives, I will run to the store and get olives. Or if it’s chocolate cake, I get them that. I think at 85 if someone wants to have something, then they should have it, and I try to make it happen” says Ms. Papp. “At this age, when they are not as ambulatory, meals are very important. They talk about what they used to cook, and who made the best gravy or sauce. I want them to feel at home at mealtime.”

In her role overseeing housekeeping, Ms. Papp praises her staff for helping to maintain the “beautiful private rooms,” keeping them fresh and clean, making residents feel at home.

This focus on making everyone feel important has earned her admiration among the staff.  In honor of National Nursing Home Week, May 12-16, Alaris Health at Belgrove has chosen to highlight Ms. Papp as an exemplary employee. The American Health Care Association established National Nursing Home Week in 1967 as a week-long observance celebrating the positive impact nursing homes can have on the lives of people. Each Alaris Member Health Center is participating in this celebration and has chosen an employee to highlight.

“We selected Lisa because she is the definition of a “team player.” She tries to help every department shine and takes pride not only in her departments, but also in the building as a whole. She has even given residents her personal cell number so she can be sure they get what they want or need. I am proud to have her on my team,” says Jackie Baumrind, Administrator of Alaris Health at Belgrove.

The theme of this year’s National Nursing Home Week is “Team Care: Everyone Pitches in.”  The theme recognizes residents and patients in long term and post-acute care settings, the dedicated staff who care for them, and the value of care planning where everyone “pitches in” for optimal outcomes.

“Alaris Health celebrates our employees for improving and enhancing the lives of our patients,” says Avery Eisenreich, President of Alaris Health.

Alaris Health at Belgrove is a well appointed facility, located in historic Kearny, New Jersey, and offers a warm, supportive and uplifting environment for post-hospitalization short-term rehabilitation patients and long-term residents alike.  For more information, please call (973) 844-4800.
