New Jersey, June 28, 2016 – Nearly half a million Americans suffer from clostridium difficile (c. Diff.) Infections in a single year according to a February 2015 study by the Centers for Disease Control and prevention (CDC).
And did you know that more than 100,000 c-difficile infections develop among residents in nursing homes each year nationwide? This infection causes major colon inflammation and deadly diarrhea resulting in major complications to nursing home residents.
Alaris Health applied for and has been accepted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for a new initiative that will record, analyze and create a national data baseline for c-difficile infections in nursing homes, as well as streamline and track the effectiveness of treatment of these infections. Problems in the treatment of this infection can then be analyzed and tracked, making progress towards stopping it in the future.
The goal of the study will be to improve the quality of care and outcomes for our residents in this care area.
The centers that were selected include:
- Alaris Health at Castle Hill
- Alaris Health at Cherry Hill
- Alaris Health at Essex
- Alaris Health at Kearny
- Alaris Health at Hamilton Park
- Alaris Health at HarborView
